Jennifer Little, L.Ac., earned her Master's of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in San Francisco. She is a California licensed Acupuncturist, Herbalist, and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine with ten years of experience as a holistic health practitioner. Prior to this, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University in Communications with minors in Biology and the Humanities.
While working at the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic and the Stroke and Rehabilitation Center at the California Pacific Medical Center, she was a key member of a team of health care practitioners focused on providing patients the best care possible with an integrative approach. Jennifer has done extensive post-graduate work in women's health, fertility, obstetrics, internal medicine, pulse diagnosis, herbal medicine and acupuncture through seminars, workshops and internships. During and after graduate school, she has interned with with pulse master Robert Levine, and has worked with fertility expert, Lifang Liang, with whom she worked closely with to write and edit an integrative gynecology textbook for TCM practitioners and students that was published by Blue Poppy in 2010. She is currently co-writing a book of detailed gynecological case studies to accompany the text book that will further guide practitioners in treating their patients according to their specific dynamic set of signs and symptoms.
In addition to treating patients at the ACTCM Community Clinic and ACTCM Ear Clinic, Jennifer maintained a thriving bodywork practice during school through her private practice, integrative clinics, and the JCCSF. She specialized primarily in pre- and post-natal care, bodywork for athletes, and rehabilitation from trauma, injury, and repetitive stress. As a massage therapist and Reiki practitioner, she began to cultivate her intuitive sense of working effectively with a person as a whole being. In Eastern philosophy and medicine, there is no separation between body, mind and spirit, and this paradigm plays an intrinsic role in her approach to healing.
With the whole person in mind, Jennifer approaches each patient individually. Mindful of both the symptoms, known as the "branch" in Chinese Medicine, and the underlying reason why the person is experiencing them (the "root"), she incorporates complimentary modalities including acupuncture, Chinese herbal formulas (internal and external), bodywork, moxibustion, cupping, energy work, mindfulness training, homeopathic remedies, flower essences, supplements, nutritional and dietary therapy, and exercises into her treatment plans for patients in order to assist them in discovering a balanced and radiant sense of well-being.
