Acupuncture
Acupuncture is used to regulate and restore the balance of the body in order to assist and accelerate the healing process. It is based on traditional Chinese theories; the flow of qi (energy) and blood through meridians or pathways that cover the body, somewhat like nerves and blood vessels. According to this theory, when one or more of these pathways is blocked, illness pursues… or when there is an imbalance of energy, illness follows.
Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points shown to be effective in the treatment of many health conditions. The Chinese have recorded these points over a period of two thousand years. In recent times, many scientific studies have established the validity of acupuncture. The National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledge that acupuncture treatment can effectively treat a wide array of acute and chronic conditions. Furthermore, acupuncture is known to provide effective healthcare that results in a healthier well being.
Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation
Acupuncture Facial rejuvenation is a safe, painless and effective treatment to renew your face as well as your whole body. Acupuncture facial rejuvenation brings additional nutrients to the cells and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin by promoting the flow of blood & qi. Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation is a natural and organic process that draws upon the ancient Chinese wisdom of longevity, beauty and balance.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is the substantial counterpart to the energetic medicine of acupuncture. Many conditions greatly benefit from the use of Chinese herbal therapy alone, or with acupuncture. Herbs, which include plants, flowers and minerals are highly specific in their actions and possess diverse qualities and properties to target different aspects of disharmony.
Herbal formulas are specifically tailored to the individual needs of each patient and come in many forms, including herbal teas, pills, powders or tinctures. We are highly trained in herb contraindications and herb/drug interactions.
At Retreat Acupuncture herbal prescriptions are written according to your specific condition and needs. We only carry and recommend herbs from companies that have been tested for safeness and purity.
Nutritional & Lifestyle Counseling
Diet, nutrition and lifestyle are important elements that round out the Chinese medical treatment plan. We will educate you as to which foods or supplements should be added or eliminated based on your diagnosis, and wellness goals.
The philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine is to achieve a balanced lifestyle. With the responsibilities of today's lifestyle it can be a challenge to take good care of yourself, so that you can look and feel your best. During your visits, we will educate you on stress reduction techniques, exercise programs, meditation and relaxation.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is the burning of the herb, mugwort (Artemesia Vulgaris) over acupuncture points. This warms and nourishes the area, moves blood to increase circulation and eliminates excess moisture. Patients enjoy this sensation of warmth and find it very relaxing. The heat never gets close enough to the skin to burn.
Cupping
The cupping technique involves using suction with glass cups over certain areas of the body (such as back or abdomen). It is often used to relax muscles, relieve pain, and increase blood flow to the area it is applied. The sensation is similar to massage. Patients agree that this method of therapy is relaxing, soothing and very effective.
Qi Gong Therapy
This ancient Chinese discipline teaches us to mirror the movements of nature, especially the fluidity of water, to help reduce tension and stress, assist in alleviating pain, and cultivate more energy. Qi gong involves a series of physical postures, breathing techniques, mind-body techniques, and exercises to focus intention. Qi Gong delivers a complete workout for mind, body, and spirit, which according to Chinese medical thought, helps prevent and alleviate a variety of diseases. Qi gong practitioners believe that qi gong is an excellent method to develop strength and flexibility, increase energy, boost the immune system, clear stress, and calm the mind.
The Infratronic 8000 Therapeutic Massager - For Accelerated Recovery
This device combines eight ultra-low-frequency sound waves that penetrate superficial and deep layers of the body to dissolve cellular trauma of all kinds. This is useful for all types of pain, fractures, inflammation, soft tissue injuries, stress, mental/emotional issues, and sleep disorders.
Sound Therapy
The Acutonics Tuning Fork System integrates Eastern and Western science and medicine. A vibrating fork is activated, and is then applied to certain acupuncture points. The body then begins to resonate with the tone as the sound is taken in, creating harmony and healing at a cellular level.
